Who uses the RCC?

What has the impact of the RCC been to UGA?
A December 2008 Survey with 53 PI respondents revealed the following:
- 239 Peer-reviewed publications resulted from the use of the RCC from 2006-2008.
- 11 MS theses depended on use of the RCC from 2006-2008.
- 30 PhD theses depended on use of the RCC from 2006-2008.
- 70% of the respondents said that the RCC was very, or critically important, for obtaining external funding.
- 77% of the respondents said that if the RCC were unavailable to them, their research would be moderately (22.6%) or severely (50.9%) impacted.
- 38% of the respondents said the RCC was very, or critically important, for graduate student recruitment.
- 52% of the respondents said the RCC was very, or critically important, for recruiting new Faculty.
Usage Statistics
How much computing, storage and service is utilized?
Compute hours:
Last year, 1,626,502.5 CPU hours (185 compute years) of high performance computing was utilized.
How broadly is the RCC utilized across the UGA campus?
Political Science, Crop & Soil Sciences, Chemistry, Biological and Agricultural Engineering Research Georgia, Education - Deans Office, School of Marine Programs Ins/legal Studies & Real Estate, Economics, Geography, College Environment & Design, Terry College - Deans office account for the remaining 1.5%.
Data storage
RCC users store 4.8 TB of data on RCC equipment and an additional 4.375 Tb are in use by specific Centers or projects. The RCC has saturated its storage capacity on several occasions
Direct RCC staff collaborations
According to a recent survey of RCC Primary Investigators, 18 made special requests for software installation or help and 13 directly collaborated with RCC staff to perform, or set up custom analyses.
